This place is Florida wild!!! Tons of wildlife to see and amazing food!!!!! Loved the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and amazing remoulade sauce! Also shared the loaded chips and 24k wings and all 10/10. Thanks for a great experience

MOM OF YOUNG BOYS: Food and service were great! Decorations were awesome, sub for a picture in a prep area corner. I did look to see if this place was kid and family friendly, it said so, but unless you want to have to explain inappropriate picture to your young sons, then probably not. It did provide a great opportunity for discussion though….also no kids menu. ‍♀️

Definitely a lot of character and a lot of characters in this place. Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning, and breakfast was very good. I was surprised to see I was the only one not having beer with my breakfast. The two next to me finished two pitchers before their food even came. Portion sizes were great, what appears to be a house-made salsa was also very good on my potatoes. Food was quick and hot. I would stop in again when back in the area.

I was a little nervous, pulling up to a bar painted camouflage, but pleasantly surprised! This place has the best gator I've ever had! Their homemade hot sauce is a must try, too! I enjoyed chicken tacos and sweet potato fries, but I could have made a side salad from all the extra yummy toppings left on my plate. My husband tried the cracker trail burger and was impressed ?. This place is pretty far out of our way but I think we will find new reasons to come to the area now!

Choose this place while on the way to Orlando.
The experience was intense and mindblowing.
Things moved slowly in the beginning but, little by little, the place opened up for us.
Everything we tried on their menu was exceptional and I would warmly recommend anyo e to try them.

Stopped by this place to give it a go, and it's a one and done. Lots of people working at the bar, but it took 10 minutes for us to get beer( it wasn't even cold). They weren't busy at all either. Better service, and beer else where. After watching the cook, we decided we didn't want to even try the fries.

Updated for January 2023: STILL the best tavern and tavern food in Highland County. Gator tail and cold drinks. You want to stop at this place.

The Turkey is equal parts locals-only watering hole and a tourist draw in central Florida. I had the gator tail, which is exemplary, and a cheeseburger that rivals any fine-dining restaurant. Come for happy hour drink specials and gator, get a Grade A burger to sate your appetite, stay for live music out on the patio and cold drinks. Should be a regular (mandatory!) stop on the road to and from Avon Park.
