We came here for dinner last night and had a lovely experience. We could walk in right away when we walked past just before 7 pm; however, when we left at about 7:45, it was quite busy, and you might have to wait for a table. The serving sizes were generous, and the food was delicious. I had the spicy chicken ramen and loved the broth. The atmosphere and service were quite average.

The pork katsu curry was fantastic! Really crispy, great quality meat, and the curry was a nice thick consistency. The potato croquette was also very tasty and well fried. But the shrimp tempura was very undercooked, with the batter still goey under a first layer of very pale and chewy batter. It was super disappointing, but everything else was so good I'll consider it a fluke. Overall I'd come back to try more from their menu.

First evening coming to TOT, I was not at all disappointed to enjoy a quiet and quaint time. I ordered the salmon bento and its slight sweet sauce was the best I’ve ever tried before with plenty of mixed tempura, fresh salads, and side of miso soup with bits of tofu-seaweed! My favorite appetizer was the takoyaki, every piece was so savory! Even the Salmon roll was to die for!

Overall: 3.7/5 (dine in)

This place had no wait on a Saturday night so we just decided to try it. The food was decent but not good enough to compete with the other Japanese restaurants in Little Tokyo.

Sayuri Sake ($16): This was the only sweet sake listed so we got that one. It was pretty good and easy to drink. It's not as sweet as the flavored soju but it's sweet enough that you don't really taste the alcohol.

Dragon Roll ($17), Alaska Roll ($15), Salmon Roll ($8.50): Their sushi was meh and pretty bland. Would not get sushi here again.

Shrimp Shumai ($8): This was actually really good and my favorite item of the whole meal.

Premium Black Pork Loin ($19): This was my second favorite item. The pork loin pieces were thick and good, not too dry. However, I think the portion size is aa bit small for the price.

Tenzaru ($15): The cold soba noodle was okay. The mix tempura was good.

We were just walking past while exploring Little Tokyo and found this gem!

Delicious Loin Katsu, Salmon Roll and Black Pork Sausage - would recommend! Edamame was average, but still nice overall ❤️

I really love their katsu! It’s so crispy, without being too oily. Their croquettes are also super yummy, the crabs ones are very creamy but the potato has lots of flavour too! The cheese Katsu is a bit too cheesy for me, but my friends really like it and it looks very novel.

Teishokuya of Tokyo is a little restaurant on the outside edge of the Japanese Village Plaza. I always pass by and it's easy to miss. Their restaurant doesn't look super attractive, but it doesn't look terrible and I think this middle ground defines ToT very well.
The inside of the restaurant looks average, many of the restaurants in Little Tokyo are very historied and may have older, deteriorating furniture. ToT is getting there; their furniture is outdated but it's still in good condition. One downside about their place was that it was really loud. It felt like I could hear all the other groups in the room. Their service was normal and the staff was polite but they forgot our appetizer and had to make it later.
The food is mid, like something I could make at home on a weekday. I ordered the curry udon and it tasted fine. We also had the takoyaki and the spicy tuna donburi, again they were just fine. I'm sure they're food is very stable, but I wouldn't want to go again. The taste of their dishes didn’t have any draw. The main draw of their food seemed to be their portion sizes. You can see in the pictures that they give a big bowl full of food, but at the same time they still skimp out on the meat. 5 slices of tuna for a big bowl of rice and salad. 2 pieces of chicken for a big bowl of udon. That's unpleasant.
