Our evening at Faena Hotel was truly unforgettable. We started with the amazing Carmen Cabaret in the theater, which was an incredible performance and a fantastic way to begin the night. Afterward, we had dinner at Pao by Paul Qui, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was perfect. Special thanks to Cristian, the GM, who made sure everything was perfect, Kevin, the bartender, who crafted amazing cocktails, and Marco, our server, who provided excellent service throughout the evening. I highly recommend both the theater and Pao for an unforgettable night in Miami Beach!

Pao by Paul Qui at the Faena Hotel Miami Beach promises an international Asian culinary journey, but unfortunately, the reality felt rather more like a stop at a high-end retirement home than a vibrant trip around the world. On paper, the restaurant presents itself as a haven for adventurous palates, but in practice, it seems to have sacrificed its Asian roots on the altar of homogenised, Miami-safe dining.

The six-course tasting menu was a mixed bag, with the high point being a Philippine-inspired ceviche that hinted at what could have been a delightful embrace of Asian flavours. However, even this dish was tempered, the tiger’s milk more sweet than fiery, as if the kitchen had decided that the essence of Asia was best captured in a dulled, syrupy essence rather than the bright, sharp notes one expects.

The low point was the beef dish, which, sadly, was little more than an uninspired, underseasoned steak with a potato purée. At nearly Michelin-star prices, one expects something that challenges, excites, or at the very least, respects the culinary heritage it claims to represent. Instead, it felt as though the chef had opted for the safety of a subdued palate, perhaps more suited to Miami’s octogenarians than those seeking a genuine exploration of Asian cuisine.

In a city as vibrant and diverse as Miami, Pao by Paul Qui could have been a standout—a beacon of bold flavours and culinary daring. Instead, it plays it safe, and in doing so, diminishes the very essence of what it could be. For a restaurant that aims to transport diners, Pao feels disappointingly earthbound. A little more risk, a little more spice, and perhaps, a little less concern for the predictable palate might just elevate this establishment to where it aspires to be. Until then, it remains an underwhelming experience, with more promise than delivery.

The Ora king salmon was our absolute favorite - the seared sake toro melts in your mouth as well as the Ora king salmon dish with pineapple all of the flavors explode in your mouth. To finish our favorite dessert was the coconut sorbet half shell! 10/10 experience between food and ambiance, we sat outside which was quieter than inside. Be ready to spend $$$$ though!

I was excited all week to dine at Poa. As I entered the restaurant the customer service was great. After reading the menu I became even more excited. Once the first course arrived, my excitement began to dissipate. I really wanted the food to blow me away, but sadly it didn’t. Whenever I visit a restaurant, there are three things that I’m looking for. Number one, how I am greeted at the hostess desk. Number two, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and last but certainly not least, the food, which is why I was there to begin with. Overall, our waiter was informative, knowledgeable and excited about the food. Unfortunately, the food fell flat and I left wanting more flavour.

We came here because of Chef Pao. Each single dish Olga picked based our preference just fits our taste of buds perfectly. We enjoyed each bit of It. Pao is the chef who definitely knows how to cook, not just rely on the dish representation. We definitely want to come back.

Pao by Paul Qui consistently delivers Michelin-quality dining. The food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. While we encountered one dish that was slightly off, it was still enjoyable. I have visited this establishment many times and I look forward to dining there again soon.
