My party and I had a horrible experience at this establishment. We called ahead to confirm their closing time at 9:30 pm on a Tuesday, with the kitchen closing at 8:40 pm. Despite having reservations for 8:10 pm, we arrived early and encountered a less-than-friendly staff member named MATT at the front desk.

As we perused the menu, we found that several items, such as hot tea, water with lemon, and hot sake, were unavailable. When we asked about alternatives, the response was sarcastic and unhelpful.

Although the food arrived promptly and looked appealing, the service took a turn for the worse when I told the waiter that the Tum Yum soup wasn't great. MATT disputed my opinion, even going so far as to inspect the soup for the few shrimp I had already consumed. Despite my assurance that I didn't want the item removed from the bill, the unpleasant encounter continued.

As we settled the check with four credit cards, I observed MATT printing and discarding receipts multiple times. When discrepancies arose while my mother examined her bill, MATT yelled at her saying that there was no tip included. In response, I requested him to stop, only to be met with completely inappropriate language and behavior.

The situation left all four of us in shock, and it became evident that we were dealing with a rude and unprofessional individual. He claimed to be the manager, a statement I find questionable. I sincerely hope the management reviews the front door camera footage and takes appropriate action.

My overall experience was disappointing, and it has come to my attention that unauthorized charges were made on my credit card. I would advise caution and reconsideration before choosing this establishment. If possible, I would rate this experience with a negative score.

This place is just .. mediocre. There’s nothing that really stands out about this place that I would rave about. The decor was simple, food was ok, drinks were meh, and the service was alright. Our waiter was doing the best he could and it appeared he was the only one working that night. It wasn’t too busy crazy and I think it was either the manager or owner that approached our table a couple of times to ask if we needed anything. While checking out, the waiter did inform us that there was a 20% service fee included on the bill which was divided amongst everyone and made sure to tell us it wasn’t all of his “gratuity”.

The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is the construction around the place makes it difficult to easily get to. Sushi quality and selection good for this part of the country, bartenders and staff have always been friendly with indoor and outdoor seating (which overlooks the plaza courtyard). Prices aren't bad. Good selection of booze and wine. Owner takes pride in quality of the fish and seafood. It's a favorite of mine here in Charlotte.

We were underwhelmed by our recent experience. This place was completely dead at 6:30p on a Friday night if that tells you anything (only one other table seated).

Dining room laminate floors are separating and water damaged. Large spider web in upper corner of window suggested window sills had not been dusted in a long time.. Long table was nothing more than a bifold "card table" with a table cloth thrown over it and heavy white paper on top to limit the need to change linens.

Waitress greeted us in a reasonable amount of time but brought no utensils or napkins (we had to ask for these AFTER our food arrived...some two to three more trips and several minutes later.) She filled water glasses at the end of the table and asked us to pass them down (tacky)

We asked the server for a pen to fill out our sushi menu and she pulled one out of her hair and laid it down on the table.. NO THANK YOU.

Food orders took over 25 minutes to prepare and did not come out all together (there were 8 minutes between the first dish arrival to the last) prompting some to go ahead and eat without the rest of the party to avoid food getting cold. Portions were reasonably sized and taste was decent but unremarkable.

The waitress made a couple passthroughs to top off water but nothing extraordinary.. when the check arrived we were honored with a 22% surcharge for our party of 6. No wonder they don't feel compelled to offer great service - the tips are guaranteed.

Too many other great places to eat in Charlotte so I doubt we return.

I’m Just Bloggin

I really don’t like eating indoors during the pandemic but my mother and fiancé wanted to try this place out. I’m glad I tried it, the food was phenomenal and the staff was nice. The food came out in a timely matter. I will definitely be back. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the staffs didn’t have on gloves, if it wasn’t a pandemic, it wouldn’t have bothered me

Good afternooon,
I would like to tell you a little about a dinner that I had with my family to celebrate my nephew’s 20th birthday.
On Saturday evening 6/8/2024 we went to your restaurant to celebrate my nephew, who’s been sick and stuck at home for a while. We were excited and happy to finally be out of the house.
I chose this restaurant since I’ve gone several times throughout the years and the birthday person was craving sushi. We were seated outside.
When our waiter showed up he introduced himself but was rushing and didn’t slow down to answer questions.
I don’t know what was going on with the waiter but he was very impatient, short and unfriendly throughout our dinner.. We tried to ignore it, so it wouldn’t ruin the meal but it affected the family and ruined our time together. We wanted to do a dessert at the end with a candle but his mood just ruined it. We wanted to just leave.
When we got our check we gave him our cards then we realized that he had given himself a 20% tip. I’m not sure what your policy is for a party of 5 but he didn’t tell us he was adding a large party gratuity.
I didn’t realized until I had given him an extra tip that there was a tip already in our total. I asked him to take it off and I believe he did.
My husband and I tip very well but I don’t believe this guy deserved it. I was a waitress in my younger years and I thought a 20% gratuity was added for large parties of 8+.
Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Please remind your staff to be nice. It’s that’s simple. I don’t normally write about my experiences at restaurants but this guy’s attitude really impacted our family and ruined our night.

We were there on Saturday night, we go there every year for my mom‘s birthday. It seemed like you guys are very short staffed. The lady that took care of us was running all over the place and was not able to really focus on our table. we first got there. We had to wait about five minutes to get our drinks, then when she came over, we ordered appetizers when she came back. She asked if we needed a minute we said yes she didn’t come back for 16 minutes. We had to wave her down in order for us to order our food. Then the meals came out one at a time And we were all just eating a different times of the evening. They were only six of us and a little one in our party and she did add gratuity and I thought you guys only did gratuity for seven or more so we were a little confused about that. my sister had asked for a couple of different drinks and she said that you guys were out of both of them and then she came back and said oh no we have them and then she came back and said oh no we don’t have them. And then she brought out a drink that no one even ordered. And then she forgot to even bring out one of my mothers sushi rolls. She didn’t get it. And she still tried to charge us for it and we asked her to take it off which she did. We were there for over two hours, and it just seemed like it was very disorganized. She was literally running in the restaurant, and she just could not focus on us because she was all over the place. I don’t know if it was just a bad night or low staff or whatever it is but it definitely was very disappointing And then just asking her for things throughout our dinner. It just took so much longer than it should’ve and it was just disappointing because we go there every year and it was just a night that will probably change your mind from coming back. Just wanted to share our experience..Hope you guys have a wonderful week. Thanks.
