The menu is simple the happy hour is fantastic and the atmosphere couldn't be more intimate. I've come here several times with my wife. It's cool that they run anime(In a classy non neck beard way) and other seasonal movies in the background. If they can maintain this formula they will continue to be successful.

Received the worst service that I’ve experienced in a while last night. I typically don’t enjoy leaving negative feedback but this is my experience.
My waiter was nice but unattentive
Would check on our table but never removed finished plates/drinks so it was uncomfortable because I order multiple drinks that were just empty..
My order was messed up and not how I ordered it, I didn’t make a big deal about it but one of the staff members felt the need to make me and my guest feel extremely uncomfortable by leaving cleaning supplies on the table were we ate while we were still trying to enjoy our time.I let her know politely that she had left cleaning supplies on the table and she replied yes I meant to leave it there..
I told her that it was not appropriate to do so then she proceeded to have an attitude as she removed it. I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and everytime the service gets somehow worst. I can tell the employees genuinely don’t enjoy working here and I wouldn’t either if this is how people treat their guest. Again this is just my experience. I’m very upset cause I actually really like this place. I usually tip 20-25% but not for an experience like this. As much as I love eating here and showing friends this cool little spot I will have to pass on recommending this space moving forward.

On the young side. Appetizers were great and fantastic happy hour. Service was a little slow.

We thought we found a hidden gem, because last Friday night was awesome. But today we had a totally different experience, the waitress gave us a very uncomfortable vibe and the food was just ok. I guess you have to drink alcohol to make the food taste good. Would not recommend.

4.26 stars!! Outstanding place located off Broadway. Slightly hidden ( which is a good thing!) but is super nice inside and outside. Food is well made and thoughtful and drinks while well fashioned and a bit weak and slightly sweet, are easily modifiable because of pretty easy going bartending service. Overall just a fabulous place for a hangout.

My first visit to Hanzo was an experience I’m eager to repeat. Arriving during happy hour, I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of drinks and food, all at unbeatable prices. The atmosphere of the place set the perfect backdrop for what was to become a delightful culinary adventure.

Although the food and drinks took a while to arrive, the wait was well worth it. Among the highlights were the spicy edamame, which packed just the right amount of heat, and the pork belly bao. Notably, the bao buns came deconstructed, adding a fun, interactive element to the meal as I got to assemble them myself. This unique touch made the dish even more enjoyable.

The sushi rolls deserve a special mention for their deliciousness and freshness. Each roll was a testament to the quality of ingredients and the skill of the chefs, making them a memorable part of the meal.

While the wait time might deter some, I see it as a minor hiccup in what was otherwise a flawless dining experience. The quality and value of the offerings during happy hour, combined with the fun of assembling my bao and the excellence of the sushi rolls, are reasons enough to plan a return visit. Next time, I intend to bring more friends to share in the joy of discovering Hanzo’s culinary delights.

In sum, Hanzo has earned a spot on my list of favorite dining destinations. Its combination of delicious food, great prices, and a charming atmosphere, coupled with the freshness of the sushi rolls and the novelty of deconstructed bao buns, make it a place I’ll be talking about for a long time—and eagerly anticipating my next visit.

Alas, I wasn’t able to try the food. Last night my wife and I wanted to try Hanzo so we went by. I’ll begin by saying that it was admittedly pretty busy as it was a Friday night. Here’s the problem… we didn’t know it was open seating, there isn’t a sign (that we saw) nor is there an obvious note on the web page. This left us confused and milling about as we entered the bar / restaurant. We also noticed two other parties doing the same with confused looks on their faces, I asked one of them “what do we do?” He said he didn’t know and they left shortly thereafter. After being passed 7-8 times by front of house staff without them saying anything (except asking me to get out of the way) we left.

My feedback is for management to make the open seating more clear up front. I get that the establishment is going for a bar vibe but with the kind of cuisine and the ambiance that they are putting out one could reasonably assume ones party would be greeted or taken to a table. If we had known upfront (perhaps via a sign at the entrance) we wouldn’t have expected to be greeted by a bar tender or a server with a “have a seat wherever you like” etc.

The atmosphere of this place was nice. A bar/sushi restaurant with an anime theme. Though it was weird that the waiter couldn't tell me what anime was on the TV. As well as the waiter being the lowest energy person i have ever met. Now I will say that this place really misuses its space by having way too big of a bar area with out anymore seating than a normal hole in the wall bar. They have tables but very few which means the place fills up fast that you are forced to sit outside totally missing the theme of the place. I feel like it should be a restaurant first that offers cocktail drinks. Then reorganize the seating and space here. Also speaking of the cocktails. The signature drinks were super expensive. For 2 people not having 2 top shelf liquor and drinking their specialty. They were 15 dollars a piece. I've been to better places with better pricing. Probably won't be back here again
