Hands down my favorite restaurant in LA. There’s a reason they have a Michelin star! ⭐️ Everything on this menu is incredible! I’ve taken probably 20 family or friends to Camphor for dinner over the numerous times I’ve eaten here and all of them loved it. My personal favorites are the chicken, onion tartine, bread pudding, radicchio salad and of course who doesn’t love a good French fry.

CHIAO YIN KAO

1️⃣oysters- I absolutely loved it. My boyfriend, who usually hates the taste of oysters, actually enjoyed these—which says a lot about how well they were prepared. They were fresh and sweet without any overpowering flavors.✅✅✅

2️⃣tartare-This dish felt a bit Americanized, as I haven’t encountered a sauce like this elsewhere. It was very fresh, but I think the fried basil could be improved. Either adjust the frying technique or make the batter thinner, as it felt too dry and heavy.

3️⃣main scallops (Demi lune)-Exceptionally creamy and absolutely delicious! The sauce was incredibly flavorful. A must-order for anyone dining here!✅✅✅✅

4️⃣rib eye-The charred flavor was a bit overpowering, giving it a slightly bitter taste. However, it was still very enjoyable. The portion of potatoes on the side was generous—there was plenty to go around!✅

5️⃣bread pudding-Not overly sweet, wonderfully fluffy, and paired perfectly with the ice cream. An excellent dessert choice!✅✅

6️⃣non alcoholic drinks (monaco , nice):

Camphor in the artist district is like a masterpiece painted by the uber-talented Chefs Max Boonthanakit and Lijo George!
It's a Michelin one star French restaurant with a bustling open kitchen, where the magic happens right before your eyes. The service is so detailed, it's like they've thought of everything, down to the tiniest little nuance.

we are capitivated by delicate pastries and cuisine . The way they blend French fine dining into American share style is pure genius. From the appetizer to the dessert, every bite just made our day. It's like they've distilled the essence of culinary perfection and served it up on a plate.

Camphor was recommended to us by LA locals and it was spectacular! Every bite was delicious and the service from our server Nico was outstanding. He encouraged us to try different things and was so attentive. Make sure to treat yourself to a glass of green chartreuse at the end of your meal!

We visited for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Getting seated was a breeze. And the service was top notch. They take the time to thoroughly explain the menu and the inspiration behind it. The food is delicious and that should come as no surprise considering their Michelin Star. Perfect, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I wore a sport coat but there were plenty of people dressed casually. I liked that. It felt welcoming. An at the end of the night, we received a hand written card for our anniversary. Just a perfect night out.

Camphor is a restaurant that's worthy of its Michelin star. The restaurant is ran upscale without being stuffy, and service is attentive and friendly.

Starting with the Provence cocktail, the drink packs a punch. It's a clean vodka martini with subtle herb infusions. It's one of those simpler is better tasting cocktails. We also tried the tracadero cocktail with gin and cucumber. It's strong but still refreshing at the same time.

Moving into small plates is where the only miss of the evening lies. The silver anchovies have too much of the floral seasonings used, which leaves a strange soapy basic taste. Fortunately, everything else we had in the meal more than made up for it.

The onion tartine, which is a deconstructed French onion soup is AMAZING. the duck broth soup is rich, and it's perfectly soaked up in the cheese toast. This one is a must have.

For mains, we ordered the chicken and scallop. The scallop came in pasta format with a velvety butter sauce, and it's more than satisfying. However the star of the show is the chicken. The chicken breast is piped with chicken thigh mousse between the meat and the skin, and it's one of the best chicken I've had. The breast was perfectly tender and moist, and comes in a Asian inspired sauce that you don't expect from a French restaurant.

Lastly, we ended with a bread pudding with chocolate, and ice cream on the side. The whole thing was lightly sweetened, and it was light and perfect after what turned out to be a whole lot of good eats.
