If you're in Fresno, CA, and craving some delicious Japanese cuisine, look no further than Kikku Japanese Food in Downtown. I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience.

The highlight of my meal was their famous #19 Spicy Crispy Chicken. This dish is an absolute must-try! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The spice level could have been a little more spicy besides that it was just right, adding a delightful pinch, without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, and the portion size was generous, ensuring you get your fill.

Another standout dish was their side order of #48 Vegetable Tempura. The assortment of vegetables was fresh and perfectly cooked, encased in a light, crispy batter that was neither too oily nor too heavy. Each piece was a bite of perfection, with the natural flavors of the vegetables shining through. It was a fantastic complement to the spicy crispy chicken and added a nice balance to the meal.

The staff at Kikku Japanese Food deserve special mention. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The service was prompt and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions. Their friendly demeanor and professionalism truly set the tone for a memorable visit.

From the delicious #19 Spicy Crispy Chicken and the perfectly cooked #48 Vegetable Tempura to the outstanding service, Kikku Japanese Food exceeded my expectations. Update 11/14/24: Had the #3 downtown spicy chicken, which has the spice I loved. Also, with a 3-piece side of zucchini.

Came here for lunch with my friend. The place was nice and clean and the employees were very friendly. They ordered the Spicy Crispy Chicken and I ordered Crispy Chicken.
I enjoyed the Crispy Chicken! Right amount of crispness and very tasty. Salad was also good, I ignored the vegs :P. THE BROWN SAUCE? AMAZING OMG!!!
I didn't ask my friend about their food, but I can tell you this, they INHALED it in a matter of minutes, so I'm guessing it's good lol.
Good place to have lunch! Def would come back for that brown sauce lol.

Kikku Japanese features traditional Japanese and fusion dishes; e.g., spicy chicken. I ordered #2 Teriyaki Tri-Tip Beef and Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. Both were served with salad and sticky rice. Both were large portions and tasty. I arrived about 11 on a weekday. It appeared that most were regular customers and ordered ahead. Those that ordered ahead received their food first. I did not order ahead, and as I stood there waiting and watching others walk in and out with their lunch, I began to be a little concerned that my order was overlooked. I was glad when the owner or manager stopped by to let me know that my order would be out shortly. I really appreciate that. She also thanked me for my business and said she hoped to see me again.

This is easily my favorite place to eat downtown! The food is consistently great and tasty. My go to meal is the Downtown Spicy Chicken. The service is quick as well, which is especially helpful during the lunch hour. The owner takes great care of customers and staff. She gets to know everybody and regularly checks with customers to ensure they are having a good experience. I have never eaten somewhere where the owner and staff take the time to remember names and get to know their customers. They have an amazing team and amazing food!

Lovely staff. Very friendly. Ordered the Spicy Crispy chicken, the Downtown spicy chicken and tempura appetizer. Everything was delicious. I would definitely go here again and recommend for a quick bite. The decor was chill, lots of seating, and very clean restaurant. I hear it gets busy during lunchtime thought. I was here for dinner and it was fairly busy but food came out quick steaming hot. Definitely give it a try.

I ordered the spicy chicken plate which comes with vegetables. The vegetables tasted like they were steamed in fabuloso. The napkin also smelled like it set next to a a bottle of fabuloso. I called and all the staff said was, they would let the kitchen know. My hard earned money down the drain!!!!

Only tries the spicy crispy chicken. It's not bad. Pretty good and price is decent. You get a good size portion too. Gets pretty busy during lunch time so I would recommend calling in to order ahead.

I went in today for the first time today & I was disappointed. I ordered vegetable ramen & beef ramen. The ramen didn’t look presentable at all the broth had no flavor. Also the beef ramen didn’t have any flavor either. I also ordered a chicken teriyaki rice plate I don’t understand why they serve it on paper plates especially when you dine in. I also don’t understand why they don’t put spoons in the utensils area I had to ask for a spoon for my ramen. As I was walking to the restroom today the floor was very slippery near the fountain drinks. There were other customers who almost slipped.
