First, let's start with the fact that I came to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. At first there was a crazy load of cars waiting to enter the parking lot. When I asked if parking was free, they told me yes! So they took my car. We entered the restaurant, waited a little, and then we sat down. The menu was quite expensive, but I came to celebrate my birthday, so the prices didn't matter to me that much. We ordered a lot of dishes from the menu, but to my surprise, the dishes were more than one bite. The taste was great, but everything was so small. Even the cocktail was loaded with ice, which was less than 1 inch of drink. The atmosphere in the restaurant was luxurious and the service was courteous, but I will never go back
again. I feel like a joke.
Btw the When I left the restaurant to get my car back, they charged us more money when they initially said it was free.

( I forgot to draw that I returned one of the dishes because I ordered sushi and got rolled salmon, after which they changed it to sushi so cheap without vegetables that it costs maybe $2 and sells it for $50.)

My first impression for brunch ($72 a person) was not amazed. I was expecting a lot more but their crab claws were super small (which is probably the higher priced item in their buffet). They had a bunch of other items in their buffet but food takes time to come out. Food is good though. I’m glad I got to experience but I would not come back. I got the miso salmon and the salmon is so tender but the sauce was too sweet for me. Their fried eggplant is very greasy. I was expecting a tempura like batter (lighter), it was still tasty but I couldn’t eat more than 3. My friend got the wagyu burger and honestly, I wouldn’t tell a difference if you put regular ground beef in there. Nothing special imo. Fries were crispy and seasoned well. My other friend got the breakfast bagel and the meat was dry like it’s been sitting out for a while. Flavored well though. Their Guabao is rather tasty! If you like spiciness it’s a good choice. Their dumplings were good, nothing special. Their sushi was tasty! Super small and goes away quick. Their fresh fruit bowl is adorable and their fresh juice is delicious.
Overall, I’m not highly impressed. Yes they have maybe 1-5 high ticket items on their lineup but I wasn’t impressed with the taste. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service is unmatched. For $72 I guess I was hoping to get whisked off my feet but I might have been coming here expecting too much ᵕ̈ great place if you wanna try it out at least once. It’s a good experience. They do have live music as well.

Came by because Komodo hosts a sushi master class that people can purchase tickets for.

The class was interesting but definitely wished there was more to do since we were only able to make 2 rolls, and those too, were very basic. They lacked any concept of concept of garnishes or intricacy.

After the 2 rolls, we were sat for a 3 course omakase. Here, the items were simply alright with nothing to ring home about.

Moreover, the service was tiresomely slow. Which is weird, because we’d expect the kitchen to be able to get a head start on making stuff, since the 3 course was chef’s selection and all the parties from the class were required to have the same items.

We ended up paying $250 plus tip. All-in-all, this seems like one of those restaurants that places an emphasis on the vibe and aesthetic rather than the food. Which can definitely be fine for some. It just wasn’t for us.

The vibe was really nice. The decor, bathroom, everything was on point. Food was good too which means however felt some animosity coming towards one of the managers I believe. I wanted to switch a dish out because I wasn’t familiar with the type of food and found out it was beef, which I refrain from eating. Asked my server to get something else. The server was nice but when the manager came I could tell he was annoyed and the vibe after that was a little bit off.
But overall it was very nice

I recently visited Komodo Brunch with family and was welcomed by the sounds of a live singer, who brought sunshine to the sky on a rainy day!
She was great singing classics to new music with her own spin on them all.

I’m not a big fan of buffets however somehow to food placement from a persons breathe to platter seemed like a good distance.

The food was great everything from salad to fresh seafood, sushi and sticky ribs was simply amazing.
I wish I could remember our waiters name but everyone around was seemingly enjoying their job and having a great day which makes the difference when spending you are out to enjoy family time.

I could go on about this place, the decor the open kitchen so simply thank the chefs for their amazing work, the long hallway to the restroom, the attendant there etc…

Welcome to Dallas Komodo, we will be back!

Be prepared to spend coin for the full experience! Dinner service was fantastic, our server recommended drinks, gave a tour of the menu, and perfectly served each course so the table stayed full.

The cocktail drinks were unique and delicious - not too sweet (which I prefer), although I highly recommend sharing a bottle or two of sake from their superior collection.

Highly recommend the Peking duck and the omakase platter (not on the menu, ask the server)! The omakase was a high quality variety of raw fish, and reasonably priced considering you get to try almost all of the fish on the menu.

The pecking duck was phenomenal! My only complaint is I wish someone had shown us how to properly eat the duck that is served traditionally with pancakes. No big deal, the duck was still amazing and the whole duck fed 5-6 people.

Overall the food was fantastic, I think each item is a classy version of a comfort dish, and all have unique finishes. The wagyu was cooked to perfection, and worth every bite.

The restaurant was packed for a weekday, but the tables were roomy and felt private. This is an upscale take on a family style menu, so don’t bring picky eaters if they aren’t ready to share. Sharing everything made the price worth it, we each got to try everything that we wanted.

I was thrilled when Komodo first decided to make Dallas one if it’s homes. The food is great and the atmosphere in unmatched. The bar is my favorite area of the venue. Great drinks and better bartenders. If you’re ever at the bar, ask for Patricia or Trish. Best bartender there, hands down. Was very attentive and competent on the food menu as well! Great employees all the ways round, including GM, Ty Garner. Patricia will take care of you!
