First thing you will notice is the extremely kind staff. Very polite and lovely for a casual dinner date.

It is seasonal but I recommend their Spanish Mackerel and sweet shrimp.
They will serve as sushi , but will not waste the body parts! They offer to lightly deep fry and enjoy everything.

Their Seabream sushi and lomo Saltado is a hidden gem. Highly recommend!

My favorite place since leaving orange county!

This was our first time to Higo Sushi and Peruvian. Our experience was outstanding to say the least. We arrived just after 5:30pm and were seated promptly outside in the patio area.

The hostess was extremely accommodating and set up two standing heaters next to our table since it was pretty chilly out. Shortly after we were greeted by the most friendly waitress that took our drink order. When she returned she immediately took our food order.

Service and food quality was nothing short of exceptional. The plating on all our orders looked great as well. You can tell the chef took time when it came to the presentation of the food.

All in all we were very pleased with our experience at Higo. We will definitely be coming back in the very near future!

My favorite spot to get sushi. Chef Luis is the best to including everyone in his team. I recommend you sitting at the bar so you can have the chef choose what you will eat. You will get the full experience and tried new things you wouldn't think to try.

I gave this place a 1 star due to its poor customer service; particularly from a server named Caleb. Caleb greeted us at the door and asked how many were in our party. I said two people. He said he only had outdoor seating, so we agreed to eat outside as we were starving. As he was escorting us to our table, I noticed a couple walking out, leaving an indoor table open. I sat outside for a minute and saw Caleb clearing the indoor table. I decided to approach him and ask if the table was available for us, as it was freezing outside (even with the heaters on).

Caleb rudely said or ordered me, "You go back outside, if it's open I will come get you." I said ok, but then it hit me. Why is he being so commanding and treating me like I'm a child, who didn't ask permission to leave my outdoor table. His tone of voice was condescending and just plain rude.

Higo's, you need to hire people who actually enjoy working with the public. Every other server I saw had smiles on their faces. This Caleb kid looked like he hates his job. I figured he must be related to the owner, and that's why he's able to behave in this manner.

My husband and I did stay as I was really craving Lomo Saltado, but I will NEVER return. We love eating out a lot, but I will gladly give my $$ and support to other restaurants who will appreciate my patronage.

It’s a really good place to eat sushi. Is expensive but taste is awesome. Remember it’s a Peruvian fusion restaurant.

Recommend fries lucuma ice cream, it’s awesome.
Totally recommend to go once at week or month.

My dad recommended me to come to this restaurant as he use to make deliveries of fish products and knew the owner. The restaurant is very clean and has great customer service. They have a variety of choices for sushi or sashimi as well as creative and distinct hand and traditional rolls. My husband and I ordered a 6 piece Toro sashimi, Caterpillar Roll, Crunchy with crab roll, chicken teriyaki with mixed tempura combo, and a miso soup. To begin, the Toro sashimi was really really good. The texture and taste were delicious. The rolls were good however, there was something salty about the rolls. For one, the crunchy roll has small pieces of corn tortilla so perhaps that also gave it a salty taste. Both the crunchy roll and caterpillar roll had eel sauce, which I really like, and maybe the eel sauce was salty? I am not sure, but there was something salty in the rolls that didn’t quite make us enjoy them as we would have liked but we ate them all anyway. As for the chicken teriyaki it was good but the teriyaki sauce could have been much more flavorful. The mixed tempura was very good as well as the miso soup. Although, some of our items tasted salty, we would definitely return to dine here. Hopefully next time it’s not salty or maybe that’s part of their flavor!

After today's visit, raising the rating to 5 stars! Really, the best fish and flavoring... Yes, it's a bit more expensive. You get what you pay for. Will come here whenever we are in town and choosing Japanese food.

Very good sushi, especially the quality of the fishes and seafood -- yellowtail was the best I've had. Ama Ebi was really good (fresh and rightly fried head and body) -- amazing presentation (see photo). One can taste the Peruvian twist (I suppose) that was slightly different than authentic Japanese. But, all were good, including the uni. The ambiance and decoration were rather bland. Do expect a bit high pricing, the reason for 4 stars.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Great variety of menu options, but I wasn't a fan of the ambiance/vibe. There wasn't a wow-factor for me to come back.

AMBIANCE: Noise level was loud. More of a family restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating (with heat lamps).

DRESS CODE: Casual

MENU OPTIONS:
- variety of appetizers, sushi, sashimi, rolls, cooked food (both Japanese and Peruvian), beer, sake, wine, juices
- Kids menu/options available
- wasn't a fan of the options of rolls offered. most of the rolls had tempura or avocado, or cream cheese (seems too Americanized rather than Japanese or Peruvian)... I wish there were more options that included fish.

ORDERED:
- Crispy Spicy Tuna
- Yellowtail Collar
- Ceviche Halibut
- Peruvian Roll
- Fresh Scallop Sushi
- Spicy Scallop Handroll
- Salmon and Uni Sushi
- Quality of fish was fresh and good, but still didn't have that wow factor to want to come back

SERVICE: Service was good.

PRICE: ~ $70pp (depending on how much food and alcohol you order)

PARKING: Located in a shopping center, so plenty of parking!

Food: 3/5 stars
Service: 4/5 stars
Venue/Ambiance: 2/5
