We stopped in for lunch, and I ordered the chicken fajita salad. It came with ranch dressing that I tried, but I didn't care for it. So I ate it with their salsa and it was so good and fresh. I know, a salad isn't a good indicator for how good a Mexican restaurant is, but if the quality of ingredients in their salad is any indication of the rest of their menu, if day it's great. The staff was nice and the service was fast.

After seeing the advertisement at B&B Theater I decided to give this establishment a try. While I waited I decided to check out the reviews and see a very mixed selection. I was going to do the 2 Pound Tomahawk steak for $54 but decided to play it safe with the Nachos, Enchilada with rice and beans to test the waters. Everything came out fast and tasted fresh. I may have to come back and challenge the steak later, when I am not full of movie popcorn. No real complaints but there is room for improvements.

Cute location in a strip mall. Clean and spacious. Went for lunch on a Monday. Our server was attentive and nice. Food came quick. This was my first time having a Mexican restaurant steak and it was delicious and tasty. The chargrilled smokey taste was good. Baked potato and salad on the side. Had 2 margaritas and queso as well. Total for 2= $80! Unbelievable prices! Will definitely recommend and return.

I had the grilled chicken dish. I would give it a 8.5/10. The sauce to dip the chicken in was very good and the pineapple pico was also very tasty. I also had queso and guacamole. The guacamole tasted like just about any other Mexican food restaurant’s and the queso was interesting but in a good way. If I was to stop through the Glenn heights/red oaks area again I would definitely eat here again.

We recently tried Hugo's, a newer Mexican restaurant in Red Oak. With so many Mexican food options in Red Oak and Ellis County, we were curious to see how it stacked up.

I ordered the combo fajitas, and while they weren’t bad, they didn’t quite stand out either—solidly average. The chips and salsa followed suit—fine, but nothing that left a lasting impression. The real highlight, though, was the service. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made for an enjoyable dining experience.

While Hugo's might not have wowed us on this visit, it’s definitely worth checking out to see if it’s your style. With so much competition in the area, I’m not sure it will become one of our regular spots, but for those who love exploring new restaurants, it’s worth a try!

I was halfway done with my meal when I moved the metal taco holder to get the food from underneath. I was disgusted when I found a bug on my plate. My meal was comped but there was no apology from anyone.

Friday busy evening here after hearing great things about this place. Hugo’s failed to meet my expectations sadly. They offer Mexican/Tex-mex favorites and are pretty affordable with entrees ranging from $10-20 each. They even have pork tamales on the menu. Ordered the steak fajitas with an a’la carte enchilada. For the enchiladas, they offer whatever type of sauce you could want, from tomatillo to Chile con carne. The steak fajita was the only reason I gave 2 stars as it was so tender and juicy that my mother who is missing half of her teeth was able to enjoy the steak effortlessly. Between mom and I, we had beef, cheese, and chicken enchiladas- all which were very bland and had over cooked tortillas (hard). The rice and refried beans were not good at all either, and they do not offer black beans. The chips and salsa was decent and served in some beautiful carafe type dish. We sat in Anayale’s section in the busy restaurant and the service was not great. After receiving the wrong order and informing her that the order was incorrect, we were met with a “uh, let me take some orders from the other tables and I’ll be back”. She didn’t come back for a little bit and then finally we received the correct order, but by that time my food was already demolished. Not sure if she was caught off guard by the mix-up or what, but an apology for the mix up would’ve went a long way. Either way, if you’re in town, there are far better Mexican restaurants to try.
