Run as fast as you can to MEL-O-DEE Restaurant!!! With so much to choose from. I decided on the pot roast dinner with the absolutely best coleslaw I've ever had. My friends chose the chicken dinners. Before our food arrived, we got a basket of homemade bread. I know at this point we were starving, but that bread was devoured, and we really hoped more would be brought out, and to our surprise, we got more to go with our dinner. They sell loaves of homemade bread, and 2 came home with me. My friends said the best chicken they've had, and my pot roast absolutely ? delicious. I definitely will make the drive soon and bring more family n friends with me.

I had a much higher expectations I had heard for a long time this was a really neat restaurant to stop at. I finally made it up to the area and checked it out and it was a letdown it was a mom pop got a place where which is fine I love that the food had a large variety of food almost too many choices everything centered around broasted chicken. Coleslaw was the best thing on the menu. My son ended up getting the breakfast for dinner thing and he was disappointed

I have been coming to Melodee for years and it has always remained one of my favorite places to eat. The BEST fried (broasted) chicken in the area. Side salads are big, fresh and ranch is delicious. Comes with freshly made bread, and I always buy a loaf when I leave. Service is always great too! LOVE Melodee

LarderRoom...On the advice of a good friend, I stopped into Mel-O-Dee in New Carlisle for their "world famous" broaster fried chicken and coleslaw. Let's just say it didn't disappoint. This place has been family owened and operated for 4 generations! Opened in 1965! My final thoughts, they also broaster fry pork chops, fish, and POTATOES, so you know I will be back! Also, they bring fresh baked bread to the table...with real butter. Amazing!

I went for their breakfast bowl. It's pretty straightforward - a biscuit loaded up with ham, eggs, bacon, and hash browns, all covered in sausage gravy and topped with cheese!!!

Sounds heavy, but it really hit the spot. Grabbed some of their homemade toast on the side too, which is always a nice touch!

My wife opted for the veggie omelette. She seemed to enjoy it, said the veggies were fresh. It came with hash browns that looked nice and crispy.

She also got one of their biscuits on the side - freshly made!!

What I really appreciate about Mel-O-Dee is that it's just a regular, no-fuss kind of place. Good portions, fair prices, and the food comes out quick. It's not trying to be trendy, just serving up solid meals.

The bread, though? That's something special. It's so good we ended up buying a loaf to take home. Definitely a smart move if you go.

I'd say Mel-O-Dee easily lands in the top 5 diners in Dayton. The best part is you can drop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and know you're gonna get a good meal. If you're in the area and looking for a reliable spot to eat, it's definitely worth checking out.

Just good, straightforward food that hits the spot any time of day!

We stopped in for dinner during our visit to Dayton. It seems they are always busy and this time is no exception. We had 6 people in our party, we didn't have to wait long and they got us seated very quickly.

With 6 people in our party, we ordered a variety of meals. Fried Chicken is their specialty which was very delicious and cooked to perfection. All the other meals were also delicious.

The place has plenty of seating with a great atmosphere. Our waitresses was awesome and very attentive and our food came out very quickly. We had a wonderful dining experience.

Good food and good atmosphere, this is a diner that you get what you pay for. For the price you really can’t complain, and the omelette was great. Also would recommend their fried apples! They do talk a lot about their homemade bread but to be honest it was mediocre, but everything else was great.

Very busy diner! It is so much larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.
We were greeted with a smile & "welcome! How are you folks?" even thru the busyness of others being seated and people checking out..
Our waitress was very nice and we were served very quick. She brought us our drinks along with a bread basket of white and rye bread (homemade!?).
Our food was delicious! Served piping hot and portion sizes are plentiful. My daughter ordered her cheeseburger without bread/bun. We got the all-you-can-eat fish special.
You will not leave here hungry!
We will be back.☺
