This was cool spot just randomly sitting in a pretty nice busy area. I was not expecting to find a dim sum spot out of all restaurants when I visited Discovery Place out here. Overall, everything on their dim sum was pretty good. I left with a decent experience and will probably be back when I’m in the area. BUT - and this is just a heads up to the owners - I was very disappointed in the soup dumplings. They have a very cool chalk mural explaining the whole process of the soup dumplings and explained how you eat it by first drinking the soup first… only, every piece that was brought out to me was empty. Never even got to try the whole experience. I LOVE soup dumplings so again, disappointed was an understatement. Regardless, I won’t even diminish a star from my review because the flavors from all the dishes were pretty authentic, and for the Charlotte greater area, that is rare! I’m confident the server would have switched it out but again, I didn’t bother. On that note, service was great and the restaurant is beautiful!

Food and service were excellent. Cheryl was working behind the bar, we were there early in the evening, so not too busy. She was attentive without hovering, always appreciated. Soup dumplings and pan-fried buns were a great start. Mongolian beef and walnut shrimp were delicious and plentiful entrees. Good flavors in the chili oil, definitely ask for that.

I had takeout and was excited to see the place because I am always at Northcross. Very disappointing. It’s extremely overpriced for the amount of food and the quality you get. I paid $20 for 8 pieces of fried shrimp with some pineapple. And then to charge $2.50 for white rice!! Get out of here. My potstickers were freezing cold and the sauce they serve with it has so much vinegar we ended up breaking out the Banchans. Not worth $11 for 6 potstickers.
The girl working the register was really nice, but when she left someone kept being in takeout orders up and didnt ask if they went to anyone so there were 5+ people standing around and food just sitting.

Go somewhere else, not worth it at all.

We went at 11:00 AM on a Saturday for lunch, and the place was empty. Don't know why. Too early? My first glance at the menu gave me the impression that it was a bit pricey. However, further review of the menu changed my mind. The menu selections, including the dim sum, reflected a better, more traditional Chinese restaurant like we enjoyed when we lived in San Francisco. (I base my views on advice from my 3 Chinese born employees.) Not the usual Americanized Chinese strip mall restaurant you often find. Spring rolls were excellent. I had Beef Lo Mein, beef was tender, portion was large. I was not disappointed. Same for my guest who had Chicken Lo Mein. I usually won't give 5 stars to a restaurant at which I have only eaten at once, but I am making an exception here. I'm glad there is an option like BoaBao in an area that is shy of variety.

Marisa was a great server to us! We got the shu mai (AND IT IS LEGIT HANDMADE SHU MAI 10/10- I have been looking for legit shu mai since Dragon Court shut down), wonton in chili oil 7.5/10 (fresh, handmade, wish there was way less soy sauce in the sauce and more sesame oil as it was too salty), chicken lo mein 9/10 (had to add some soy sauce for a little more flavor, chicken melted in my mouth), and the sweet and sour chicken 9/10 (you have to pay $2 for rice which is odd but it was still good)
We ordered shu mai to go that’s how tasty and handmade it was!

Utter Disappointment!!! I have ordered chongqing fried diced chicken which was hard as stone and the chicken was not fresh as it generates foul smell. Coming to Brown sugar lava bun and Custard Bun, they seem unauthentic as I have eaten Chinese dessert frozen products before and they taste exactly the same. Dim sum were undercooked and bland. Unfortunately, the food items didn’t live up to the expectations making the restaurant disinterested.

I’m the first year PhD student in Charlotte. They serve water for every table except us. They also didn’t take the empty plates for an hour. But they still charge nonnegotiable 20% tips automatically. We waited the manager for 15 minutes and he came and said the 20% tips won’t be applied on the bill. Finally we gave 10% tips. Absolutely NOT a good experience. Won’t recommend

I came to the restaurant based on several friends' recommendations and had very high expectations. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. I wonder if the chef was there yesterday, as the quality was inconsistent. The only decent dish was the mouth-watering chicken. The curry chicken bun was not heated thoroughly, and we had to send it back. The steamed ribs were not fresh (see the picture). The cornstarch in the 水煮鱼 was not mixed evenly, resulting in clumps. The 干炒牛河 was below par. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food, I recommend Sizzle in Matthews.
