My family had lunch here for the first time and we can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes on the menu. Ordered Pad Thai, Moak with catfish, Ping with chicken skewers, crispy basil duck and the fried whole pompano. Best Pad Thai I’ve ever had stateside. We made sure to order more of the Laotian dishes since we’d not tried them before. Moak with the catfish steamed in banana leaves was delicious with just a bit of spice. The sauces that came with the chicken skewers and the fried pompano were different than anything we’ve had and really added to the respective dishes. We like the sauce for the fried pompano so much, we asked for a container to take home the leftover which was generous to begin with. Crispy basil duck was also a winner. Too full for dessert! Perhaps next time.

Just had an unforgettable dining experience at Padaek in Arlington Ridge, VA, and I couldn't wait to share!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, setting the perfect stage for what was to come.

Now, let's talk about the food. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the rich flavors of Lao and Regional Thai cuisine. The Siin Savanh, Gaeng Hang Lay, and Mieng were absolute standouts, bursting with authenticity and boldness.

And dessert? Oh, don't even get me started! The Mango Sticky Rice and Khao Niew Met Nga were the perfect sweet endings to an incredible meal.

But what truly sets Padaek apart is the attention to detail and the stories behind the food. Chef Seng's dedication to preserving tradition and sharing her family's recipes shines through in every bite.

Overall, Padaek exceeded all expectations. If you're in Arlington Ridge and craving an unforgettable dining experience, look no further. This place is a gem!

The larb is a toss of juicy chicken, toasted rice powder, the fermented fish sauce that gives Padaek its name and chef Seng Luangrath’s favorite herb, lemongrass. Galangal — reminiscent of fresh ginger when young and more peppery as it ages — lends its spark to the salad as well. This is food that puts your taste buds at full attention. (“Alive!” I texted a note to myself the first time I ate it.) Pretty much anyone can sample the pleasure, since the salad, like a swath of dishes here, is also offered gluten-free and/or vegan.

Definitely recommend!

Sooo deliciously scrumptious ?
Got the fried catfish and the Kua Mee w/ beef. Everything was freshly made and the noodles have that lovely smoky flavor you can only get with a wok ?

Been wanting to come for a while and finally got to make the trip out! I was definitely not disappointed, the food was phenomenal and delicious. I got the Naem Khao Thadaeu and the Crispy Basil and they are honestly some of my favorite dishes. All the food was extremely fresh and delicious. Went on a Saturday afternoon and were seated quite easily!

Padaek is an outstanding Laotian/Thai restaurant that deserves more recognition! Compared to its two sister restaurants in DC that are better known, Padaek is more easygoing and affordable.

I had high expectations for flavors, still the dishes exceeded them and left me wanting to come back for more.

We ordered Crispy Tofu in tamarind sauce and Ping (grilled marinated chicken with sticky rice). Both were cooked to perfection and packed with addicting flavors. The chicken was impressively tender, juicy and yet still retained a satisfying bite. This maybe the best chicken I’ve eaten in a while.

Padaek is truly a hidden gem that serves top tier Laotian food in town. Will definitely come back to try other dishes that mentioned in people’s reviews!

If you like the Paedak (Lao fish sauce) style papaya salad, then come here. It was too fishy for me but I like that one can get it. The crispy tofu were excellent. The coconut soup for dessert was the reason I came back. The restaurant only has one dessert and next time, I will start with dessert. The drunken noodles were fine. This restaurant started out as a Thai place. The owners started putting Lao dishes in their buffet. I ate here ten years ago when they still had not put a new sign up on the front of the restaurant (changing names is pricy). Back then, they had two menus. Now they have it all incorporated in one. The restaurant is busy.
